AirBaltic and Lufthansa expand codeshare cooperation.

Latvian airline AirBaltic and German Lufthansa have announced the expansion of their codeshare agreement. Thus, AirBaltic is adding its code (BT) to six Lufthansa routes from Munich: to Bremen, Cologne/Bonn, Dusseldorf, Hamburg, Hannover and Stuttgart. Lufthansa, in turn, continues to use its code (LH) on AirBaltic flights to Munich from Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius.

DHL Express and Shell launch green airfreight project in Brussels.

DHL Express has partnered with energy company Shell to supply 25,000 tonnes of sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) to Brussels Airport. Under the one-year contract, the SAF will be delivered via pipeline and used to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 80,000 tonnes of CO₂e compared to conventional aviation fuel. The fuel is produced by replacing fossil oil with renewable feedstocks and is ISCC Plus certified.

Nordic Aviation Group has declared bankruptcy and ceased operations.

Estonian state-owned airline Nordic Aviation Group (NAG), which includes Nordica and Xfly, is ceasing operations and filing for bankruptcy. The reason was the unsuccessful attempts to find an investor as part of the privatization initiated by the Estonian government in late 2023. The authorities had no strategic reasons to preserve Nordica, as the company provided exclusively outsourcing services.

Aviator consolidates divisions in Copenhagen.

Aviator Airport Alliance, a subsidiary of Avia Solutions Group and operating at 15 airports in Northern Europe, has announced the merger of its two subsidiaries, Aviator Airport Partner ApS (AAP) and Copenhagen Flight Services ApS (CFS). The merger into a single entity based at Copenhagen Airport is scheduled to take effect on 1 March 2025 and is supported by local and group management to strengthen the company’s position in Copenhagen while providing stability for employees and customers.

Aviator has been contracted to service Icelandair flights in Copenhagen, Stockholm and Gothenburg.

Aviator Airport Alliance, part of the Avia Solutions Group, has entered into a three-year agreement with Icelandair to provide ground handling services for the airline’s flights at Copenhagen (CPH), Stockholm Arlanda (ARN) and Gothenburg (GOT) airports. Aviator has previously successfully handled Icelandair’s flights to Helsinki (HEL), which has strengthened the airline’s trust in the partner.

DHL and IAG Cargo expand partnership to reduce emissions.

DHL Express and DHL Global Forwarding are strengthening their environmental commitment by extending their contract with IAG Cargo, the cargo division of the International Aviation Group (IAG). Under the new agreement, DHL will use an additional 60 million litres of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in 2024 and 2025, reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 165,000 tonnes of CO2e.

FL Technics strengthens its position in the global aviation maintenance market.

FL Technics, part of the Avia Solutions Group, is actively strengthening its position in the global aircraft maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) market. This year, the company expects to reach a turnover of almost 400 million euros, five times the 2013 figure. By 2030, FL Technics plans to increase its turnover to 1 billion euros, which will allow the company to become one of the leaders in the MRO industry.

easyJet and Aviator have signed a service contract in Tromsø.

Aviator Airport Alliance, a subsidiary of Avia Solutions Group, has secured a new contract with European airline easyJet to provide ground handling services at Tromsø Airport (TOS), effective 11 November. For three years, Aviator will provide ground handling and de-icing services for easyJet flights.
