FL Technics, a leading global provider of aircraft maintenance and repair (MRO) services and part of the international holding Avia Solutions Group, has announced the acquisition of the Czech company JOB AIR Technic. The deal provides for the transfer of 17,000 m² of production facilities at Leos Janacek Airport in Ostrava, the largest regional airport in the Czech Republic with a developed cargo and passenger infrastructure, to the management of FL Technics.

CF&S successfully implemented an urgent cargo delivery for a key client from Uzbekistan, taking on the full logistics cycle – from packing the first pallet to loading onto the plane. The cargo was accepted and processed at the company’s warehouse in Estonia, after which it was delivered by land and air to Germany, from where it flew to Tashkent.

The joint Kazakh-German venture Skyhansa is implementing a large-scale project to build an international cargo and passenger airport near the Khorgos ICBC in the Zhetisu region. The decision was made on the instructions of the President of Kazakhstan and supported by the Government of the country. The new hub will be built in three stages on the territory of the Khorgos – Eastern Gate SEZ, taking into account ICAO standards. By 2027, it is planned to commission a passenger terminal, a fuel storage facility for JET A-1 (up to 200 thousand tons per year) and a cargo terminal with auto and rail infrastructure.

DHL Global Forwarding has officially opened its new air terminal in Frankfurt am Main, one of the company’s largest logistics facilities in Europe. The new hub, with an area of ​​24,500 m², is located on a 55,000 m² site in CargoCity Süd and was built by developer Fraport AG. The terminal is equipped with 54 cross-docking gates and is capable of handling up to 300,000 tons of cargo per year. This will allow DHL to consolidate all of its current capacities in Frankfurt in one location, reduce the number of trucks on site and increase the efficiency of its logistics operations.

Baltic Ground Services (BGS), a part of Avia Solutions Group and a specialist in ground handling and aviation fuel supply, has entered into a strategic partnership with Greece’s largest air carrier, AEGEAN Airlines. Since June 2025, BGS will provide full ground handling services to the Greek airline at Vilnius International Airport (VNO), where AEGEAN’s first arrival took place on June 3 and its first departure on June 4.

Investment company Realterm and Leipzig/Halle Airport (LEJ), Germany’s second-busiest airport by cargo volume, have announced the construction of a new 45,000 m² cargo terminal. The facility will be customizable for one or more operators, with direct access to the apron, a convenient truck area, and a flexible layout for express, e-commerce, and general cargo.

Lithuanian business and corporate aviation specialist KlasJet, part of the world’s largest ACMI provider Avia Solutions Group, has signed an agreement with Egyptian carrier Air Cairo to operate charter flights in the summer of 2025. From May 30 to October 31, KlasJet will operate flights on the Milan-Cairo and Sharjah-Cairo routes, transporting tourists to one of the most popular holiday destinations in Egypt.

DHL Aviation, the aviation division of DHL Express, has introduced Xcelerate, a new product – an expedited airport-to-airport solution for urgent shipments. The service offers guaranteed capacity, priority loading and minimal transit times, targeting the needs of freight forwarders and large shippers who value speed and reliability. Bookings can be made up to the flight departure, and confirmations are made almost instantly.

On April 17, 2025, an important event took place in the history of European aviation: Istanbul Airport (IST) officially launched the simultaneous operation of three independent runways. This innovation increased the capacity from 120 to 148 operations per hour. The first three Turkish Airlines flights under the new scheme were personally conducted by the Turkish Minister of Transport.

In the first quarter of 2025, German air cargo terminals handled 434,182 tonnes of air freight – almost as much as in the same period last year. However, the number of employees fell by 3.5% compared to 2024 and by 5.5% compared to the previous quarter, according to the Association of German Air Cargo Operators (Vacad).
