Global container shipping spot rates have risen to their highest level in the past year and a half. According to the World Container Index from the analytics firm Drewry, the composite index rose by 12% in the week ending June 18, reaching $3,969 per 40-foot container. Increases were recorded on key Trans-Pacific and Asia-Europe routes.

The German logistics group Rhenus and China’s COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers Co., Ltd. have entered into a strategic partnership to expand transport and logistics capabilities at the Rhenus Cuxport facility in Cuxhaven. The parties formalized their cooperation through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which entails pooling their expertise in project cargo, heavy-lift transport, and specialized logistics.
From January to May 2026, Ukrzaliznytsia transported 128.3 thousand TEUs of containerized cargo, an increase of 43% (or 38.7 thousand TEUs) compared to the same period last year. Exports accounted for the largest share – 74.8 thousand TEUs, or 58.3% of the total volume. Imports reached 39 thousand TEUs (30.4%), while domestic shipments totaled 14.5 thousand TEUs (11.3%).

Worldwide Flight Services (WFS), part of the SATS Group, has signed a new five-year agreement with logistics operator GEODIS at Brussels Airport. The contract covers a full range of cargo handling and e-commerce services and marks the latest step in the expanding partnership between the two companies. GEODIS has previously utilized WFS facilities for import and export operations at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport since 2021.

The project’s primary objective is to restore design depths in the berth operational zones – a measure essential for safe vessel entry, efficient cargo handling, and the ability to accommodate vessels and shipments at maximum draft.
