Rail Baltica has received new EU funding for construction and design work in the three Baltic countries.

A meeting between representatives of the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) and the Rail Baltica project’s implementing organizations took place in Vilnius. Following the talks, project coordinator RB Rail AS signed a new grant agreement for the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) program in the amount of €295.5 million. The funds will be used to continue construction and technical work in Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania: €47.1 million to Estonia, €153.5 million to Latvia, and €94.9 million to Lithuania.

Министр транспорта Казахстана Нурлан Сауранбаев выступил на сессии «Срединный коридор: от надёжности к влиянию» в рамках V Тбилисского форума «Шёлковый путь», в котором приняли участие около 2000 представителей правительств, бизнеса и международных организаций. В ходе дискуссий обсуждались вопросы развития транспортных и торговых связей, цифровой трансформации и инвестиционных возможностей в регионе.

Latvian ports handled almost 24 million tons of cargo in the first nine months of 2025.

From January to September 2025, the ports of Riga, Liepaja, and Ventspils handled a combined 23.9 million tonnes of cargo. The Port of Riga remains the leader in volume with 12.3 million tonnes, followed by Ventspils with 6.5 million tonnes and Liepaja with 5.1 million tonnes. In September, cargo turnover at the Port of Riga increased by 12% compared to August, reaching 1.56 million tonnes, but for the first nine months of the year, it decreased by 6.6% compared to the previous year. The main categories of cargo are containerized cargo, agricultural products, and timber.

DB Cargo Polska and Alstom will establish a modern locomotive service centre in Rybnik.

DB Cargo Polska signed a joint letter of intent with Alstom to establish a new locomotive service center in Rybnik. The center will complement Alstom’s existing facilities in Toruń and will enable efficient maintenance and repair of Traxx locomotives, as well as other diesel and electric models. According to Marek Staszek, CEO of DB Cargo Polska, the project demonstrates the strengthening of international cooperation and Poland’s growing role on the European railway map.

Kazakhstan and China are developing grain and feed exports.

JSC National Company Food Contract Corporation and China’s Shandong Hi-Speed ​​Qilu Eurasia Railway Express Co. Ltd. signed a memorandum of cooperation aimed at developing the supply of grain, feed, and oilseed crops from Kazakhstan to China. The parties agreed to develop exports, including through contract farming, whereby crops are purchased from farmers during the sowing season.

Перевозки по Новому Шелковому пути сократились на четверть.

За первые семь месяцев года объём железнодорожных грузоперевозок по Новому шёлковому пути снизился на 25,41 ТТ3 по сравнению с аналогичным периодом прошлого года, до 170 700 ДФЭ. Согласно индексу Евразийского железнодорожного альянса, основной объём грузов по-прежнему перевозится из Китая в Польшу, однако и там объёмы сократились на 171 ТТ3 до 138 800 ДФЭ.
