According to the head of the department of the Center for Strategic Studies of the Turkish Foreign Ministry, Turhan Dilmas, the capacity of the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line will more than triple by 2034 – from the current 5 million to 17 million tons of cargo per year.
Turkish Transport and Infrastructure Minister Abdulkadir Uraloğlu said that the Zangezur Corridor could bring in 147.6 billion liras (about 4.1 billion euros) over the next 30 years. According to him, up to 15 million tons of cargo could be transported along the route annually.

The container turnover of the Baku port for January-July 2025 reached a record high of 60,429 TEU, which is 54.2% higher than the figure for the same period in 2024 (39,184 TEU). The growth reflects the active development of the port and the increase in its transit capabilities.
