Latvia expects to receive Stadler diesel trains from Estonia as early as 2026.

Latvian passenger operator Pasažieru vilciens (Vivi) is considering leasing Stadler diesel trains from Estonian carrier Elron. According to Raitis Nešpors, Chairman of the Board of PV, Estonia is purchasing new Škoda electric trains as part of its network electrification program, which will potentially free up some of its diesel fleet. Leasing is currently being discussed, as Estonia is not yet ready to completely phase out its existing diesel trains.
