The European logistics company GLS has announced the establishment of GLS Türkiye, a new joint venture that will serve as the foundation for the group’s entry into the Turkish market. Established on July 1, 2026, in Amsterdam, the company will operate in one of Europe’s fastest-growing parcel logistics segments.

The project covers rail access in the North Sea Port area and the Ghent-Terneuzen canal zone. It is intended to provide a more reliable freight rail connection for the port and industrial area, supporting a shift of more goods from road to rail.

Belgian logistics real estate developer WDP has strengthened its presence in the French market by acquiring two logistics facilities in the towns of Alzonne and Vendargues. The total investment amounted to approximately €52 million, with a combined area of ​​50,300 square meters. The properties offer an average net operating yield of around 7% and are secured by long-term leases with an average term of approximately seven years.

Baltic Hub, a container terminal within the PSA Group, has signed an agreement with Poland’s Centre for EU Transport Projects to secure PLN 220.6 million in funding for the electrification and modernization of its terminal complex in Gdańsk. The grant will cover nearly 40% of the project’s total estimated cost of PLN 554 million.

JSC Ukrzaliznytsia has virtually completed its internal restructuring and the division of its core business areas into separate verticals to ensure more transparent accounting of revenues and expenses. The creation of a unified railway infrastructure operator, “UZ Infra,” is currently in its final stages, according to Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, Chairman of the Board.

German Transport Minister Patrick Schnieder has presented the government-approved draft federal budget for 2027, which provides for a significant increase in funding for transport infrastructure. In total, approximately €170 billion is slated for sector development between 2025 and 2029. Investment in 2027 alone will amount to €33.7 billion – can increase of nearly €640 million over previously planned levels. According to the minister, the funds will be used to address a backlog of maintenance issues and to fund the construction and modernization of transport facilities.

The Ukraine Reconstruction Conference (URC 2026), dedicated to rebuilding Ukraine following Russian aggression, took place in Gdańsk on June 25–26. The event was attended by over 70 government delegations, as well as thousands of representatives from the business community, financial institutions, and international organizations. A key topic of the meeting was the development of transport and logistics as the foundation for the country’s future recovery.
