Van Oord and the Port of Amsterdam have carried out the first ship-to-ship bunkering of green methanol.

The Port of Amsterdam has seen its first-ever green methanol bunkering of a ship: Van Oord’s drillship Boreas received 500 tonnes of the green fuel from the bunkering vessel Chicago (operated by Unibarge) at TMA Logistics’ Amerikohaven terminal. The fuel was supplied by ISCC-certified OCI HyFuels, produced from sustainable sources such as waste and residual streams.

Ukrzaliznytsia went into the red: passenger transportation deepened its losses, freight transportation lost momentum.

JSC Ukrzaliznytsia ended 2024 with a net loss of UAH 2.71 billion, although the company’s revenue increased by 11.1% to UAH 102.87 billion. According to the annual report, operating profit from freight transportation amounted to UAH 20.39 billion, which is 2.3% less than in 2023. At the same time, the passenger segment deepened its losses to UAH 18.1 billion (+15.4% y/y), remaining deeply unprofitable.

DFDS и Volvo Trucks переводят контейнерные перевозки на ночной режим в целях экологии и эффективности.

С октября 2024 года DFDS и Volvo Trucks реализуют совместный проект по переводу контейнерных перевозок между логистическим центром Volvo в Генте и морскими терминалами порта Антверпен на ночной график. Использование тяжёлых электрогрузовиков позволяет осуществлять экологически чистые поездки в часы пониженной нагрузки, разгружая транспортную сеть и повышая эффективность всей цепочки поставок.

LTG Group accelerates the implementation of Rail Baltica: construction of the largest bridge in the Baltics has begun.

LTG Group, together with the Lithuanian Ministry of Transport and Communications, is accelerating the construction of the European railway line Rail Baltica. The head of the department, Eugenijus Sabutis, and the group’s CEO, Egidijus Lazauskas, visited construction sites in the Jonava region, where Lithuanian and Italian contractors are working on a 46.3 km-long section. The first columns of the longest railway bridge in the Baltics have already been erected – its height reaches 40 meters, and its length will be 1.51 km. The bridge crosses the Neris River in the Natura 2000 protected natural area, which requires compliance with high environmental standards.

До конца 2025 года Казахстан планирует реализовать ряд крупных проектов в сфере транспорта и логистики. По словам вице-премьера Романа Скляра, приоритетными задачами являются завершение строительства объездной дороги для негабаритных грузов на пограничном переходе «Нур Жолы», модернизация железнодорожного участка Достык-Мойынты и объездной линии станции Алматы.

The Port of Antwerp-Bruges is testing an autonomous electric shuttle for container shipping.

The Port of Antwerp-Bruges, in collaboration with technology partners Akkodis, VDL and Medrepair (part of MedlogSA, a subsidiary of MSC), demonstrated an innovative autonomous electric shuttle for intra-terminal container transportation. The project is being implemented within the framework of the European PIONEERS initiative, funded by the Horizon 2020 program.

Baltic Hub enters the final stretch of expansion of Terminal T3.

The T3 terminal expansion project at the Baltic Hub port in Gdansk has reached an advanced stage: 89% of the construction work has been completed, which confirms that the schedule is strictly adhered to and that new stages are ready to be launched. The operating permit for the second section of the terminal has been received, which already allows limited operational processes to begin on part of the territory.

Rhenus opens state-of-the-art logistics hub in Venlo, focusing on sustainability and innovation.

Rhenus Group has officially opened its high-tech logistics centre in Venlo, the Netherlands, strengthening its position in Europe and setting a new standard in sustainable and efficient logistics. The almost 72,000 m² facility combines warehousing, cross-docking and regional distribution under one roof, providing storage for up to 28,000 pallets and reducing delivery times.
