DP World invests £15 million in state-of-the-art driver welfare facility at Southampton hub

DP World has initiated the construction of a new welfare facility for drivers at its Southampton logistics hub in the UK. The GBP 15 million (EUR 17.5 million) project, anticipated to span 40 weeks, will enhance the working conditions for heavy goods vehicle (HGV) drivers. The state-of-the-art facility will feature amenities such as a restaurant, café, bathrooms, and showers, catering to the needs of drivers, and will offer secure parking for over 120 lorries with 24-hour security. Furthermore, the facility will incorporate sustainability measures, including photovoltaics on the roof for solar energy generation and a greywater rain collection system. The site for the driver welfare facility was leased by DP World from ABP, the operator of the Port of Southampton, in January of this year.

HPC возглавит инновационный водородный проект для аэропортов региона Балтийского моря

Компания HPC Hamburg Port Consulting (HPC), дочерняя компания Hamburger Hafen und Logistik AG (HHLA), получила роль координатора проекта «Воздушный транспорт на водороде в регионе Балтийского моря – подготовка аэропортов региона Балтийского моря к использованию «зелёного водорода»» по итогам европейского тендера. Этот трёхлетний проект, финансируемый ЕС, направлен на подготовку аэропортов региона Балтийского моря к использованию газообразного водорода в малой и региональной авиации, а также на наземном оборудовании, способствуя укреплению связей с существующими авиаузлами. Недавно в Гамбурге состоялась первая встреча партнёров, организованная ведущим партнёром проекта – аэропортом Гамбурга.

China inaugurates high-speed rail linking Jinan and Zhengzhou

China has successfully inaugurated the first high-speed rail journey on the Jinan-Zhengzhou route, connecting the capitals of Shandong and Henan provinces. This 407 km-long high-speed rail, introduced in phases, saw the opening of the first section from Puyang to Zhengzhou for passenger service in June of last year, with construction on the second section from Jinan to Puyang (208 km) initiated in December 2019.

The new rail-sea route from Aktau and Turkmenbashi to Constanta in Romania is being launched into operation

“Azerbaijan Railways” CJSC’s subsidiary, “ADY Container,” is set to launch a collaborative service with COSCO SHIPPING Lines, a global shipping giant, establishing a vital link between Kazakhstan’s Aktau and Turkmenistan’s Turkmenbashi ports and Romania’s Constanta port. This strategic partnership will facilitate combined rail and sea transportation between Aktau, Turkmenbashi, and Constanta, streamlining connectivity. As part of this initiative, “ADY Container” will oversee the transportation of container trains from Aktau and Turkmenbashi to Batumi port in Georgia via the Caspian Sea and railway. Subsequently, COSCO SHIPPING Lines’ vessels will carry the containers from Batumi to Constanta port in Romania.

MSC claims control of over 9% of HHLA shares following successful takeover bid

Port of Hamburg Beteiligungsgesellschaft SE, a fully owned subsidiary of MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company S.A. (“MSC”), has concluded its voluntary public takeover offer to Hamburger Hafen und Logistik Aktiengesellschaft (“HHLA”) shareholders. At the close of the extended acceptance period on December 7, 2023, the offer garnered acceptance from shareholders holding 7,325,366 Class A shares, equivalent to 9.74% of the share capital. Additionally, MSC independently acquired 12.21% of HHLA shares on the open market. In combination with the Class A and S shares held by the City of Hamburg, the joint venture partners now collectively control 92.30% of HHLA’s share capital.
