The Port of Gdańsk contributes over 40 billion zlotys in taxes to the Polish economy annually.

According to a report by PwC Poland, the operations of the Port of Gdańsk generate, on average, over PLN 40 billion in tax revenue for the state budget annually – solely through cargo handling activities. In 2024, this figure reached PLN 44.6 billion, accounting for 6.5% of Poland’s total budgetary revenue and underscoring the strategic role of the country’s largest seaport.

KTZ has increased transportation along the Trans-Caspian route by 34% and is introducing new container shipping models.

As part of the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR), Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) is implementing new logistics solutions aimed at accelerating container shipping and improving the synchronization of rail and sea flows. In the first quarter of 2026, 125 container trains were transported along the route, a 34.4% increase compared to the same period last year.

As Turkey advances its €20 billion Istanbul Canal megaproject, European countries are increasingly discussing the prospect of a toll-based maritime route similar to the Suez Canal, Business Insider Africa reports. The new canal is intended to connect the Black Sea and the Sea of ​​Marmara, running parallel to the Bosphorus, allowing for the regulation of ship transit through controlled infrastructure.
