The volume of intermodal rail freight in Poland has doubled over the past decade, underscoring the sector’s steady growth. While a slowdown occurred in 2022–2023, the market rebounded in 2024, surpassing the 2021 record by 4%.
Global container shipping spot rates have risen to their highest level in the past year and a half. According to the World Container Index from the analytics firm Drewry, the composite index rose by 12% in the week ending June 18, reaching $3,969 per 40-foot container. Increases were recorded on key Trans-Pacific and Asia-Europe routes.

AERION has announced the extension of the three-year partnership between ECS Group and Royal Brunei Airlines, aimed at supporting the carrier’s continued route network expansion alongside planned fleet growth. The new agreement took effect on April 1, 2026, and runs until March 31, 2029. The contract was signed at the Royal Brunei Academy in Bandar Seri Begawan. Under the renewed collaboration, ECS Group will retain its status as the airline’s primary GSSA partner, while AERION will provide strategic coordination, commercial management, and digital support.
The German logistics group Rhenus and China’s COSCO SHIPPING Specialized Carriers Co., Ltd. have entered into a strategic partnership to expand transport and logistics capabilities at the Rhenus Cuxport facility in Cuxhaven. The parties formalized their cooperation through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), which entails pooling their expertise in project cargo, heavy-lift transport, and specialized logistics.
The volume of rail freight transport between Kazakhstan and China reached 35.6 million tonnes in 2025, an increase of 3.5 million tonnes (or 11%) compared to 2024. This was announced following a meeting between Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov and Premier of the State Council of the PRC Li Qiang. During the talks, the parties also noted growth in key indicators of bilateral cooperation: trade turnover exceeded $48 billion, trade in agro-industrial products reached $1.9 billion, and the volume of direct investment totaled $2.8 billion.
From January to May 2026, Ukrzaliznytsia transported 128.3 thousand TEUs of containerized cargo, an increase of 43% (or 38.7 thousand TEUs) compared to the same period last year. Exports accounted for the largest share – 74.8 thousand TEUs, or 58.3% of the total volume. Imports reached 39 thousand TEUs (30.4%), while domestic shipments totaled 14.5 thousand TEUs (11.3%).
