Deutsche Bahn has begun construction of a new freight railway line in southwestern Germany.

The German railway company Deutsche Bahn (DB) has commenced construction of a new freight train line between Offenburg and Müllheim in the Markgräflerland region. This project is part of the modernization of the Karlsruhe–Basel section and forms a segment of the European Rotterdam–Genoa freight corridor. Two additional tracks will be laid alongside the A5 motorway; consequently, the Rhine Valley Railway will feature four tracks in the future, thereby enabling an increase in train traffic volume.

DACHSER is investing €30 million in the construction of a new logistics complex in Germany.

Logistics operator DACHSER has commenced construction of a new terminal for handling industrial and consumer goods within an industrial park located north of Memmingen. The project, valued at approximately 30 million euros, is being developed on an 8-hectare site and is scheduled for completion by the spring of 2027. The new facility will become an integral part of the company’s European logistics network, providing enhanced capabilities for freight transport between the Allgäu region and international markets.

The Port of Barcelona is investing over €98 million in the development of road infrastructure.

The Barcelona Port Authority has announced a tender for the construction of a new transport interchange valued at over €98 million. The project aims to improve transport accessibility to the southern section of the port and integrate new access routes into the existing road network. The decision to launch the tender was made by the Port’s Board of Directors as part of a program for the further expansion of port infrastructure.

The Port of Kuryk presented projects for the development of the Middle Corridor at a transport forum in the USA.

Representatives of the Port of Kuryk participated in the “USA–Eurasia” Transport Forum, held at the Port of Long Beach in California. The event was organized by the Consulates General of Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and Georgia, bringing together representatives from the port industry, logistics companies, the business sector, and the diplomatic community to discuss prospects for expanding trade and transport ties between the USA and the countries of Eurasia. The Kazakhstani delegation included officials from the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the leadership of the Port of Kuryk, and representatives of the country’s diplomatic missions.

Hapag-Lloyd shareholders approved dividends and re-elected the leadership of the Supervisory Board.

At their annual general meeting, shareholders of Hapag-Lloyd AG approved all resolutions put to a vote, including the payment of a dividend of 3 euros per share. The company noted that 2025 was a successful year for the carrier; transport volumes grew significantly faster than market averages, and financial results remained stable despite a decline in freight rates and rising operating costs.

Kazakhstan Temir Zholy and Uzbekistan Railways discussed the growth of transportation and the development of transport corridors.

Talgat Aldybergenov, Chairman of the Management Board of JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, held talks with Zufar Narzullaev, Head of JSC Uzbekistan Temir Yullari. During the meeting, the parties focused on expanding cargo flows toward the Kazakhstani ports of Aktau and Kuryk, as well as on the synchronized development of the railway infrastructure of both countries.

Swissport expands its cargo business in Morocco through the acquisition of Swiftair Maroc.

The Swiss company Swissport International has signed a binding agreement to acquire Swiftair Maroc – an air cargo handling operator based at Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca. This deal was concluded less than a month after the acquisition of a controlling stake in CV Handling in Cape Verde and marks another step in Swissport’s strategy to strengthen its presence in Northwest Africa. Casablanca Airport serves as Morocco’s primary air cargo hub, handling approximately 95% of the country’s total air cargo volume.

The Netherlands has launched the first section of its national hydrogen network.

The King of the Netherlands has officially commissioned the first section of the national hydrogen network at the Port of Rotterdam. The ceremony was also attended by Stientje van Veldhoven, Minister for Climate Policy and Green Growth, and Willemien Terpstra, CEO of Gasunie. The section in question is a 32-kilometer pipeline connecting Maasvlakte and Pernis, marking the first completed route in the development of the national infrastructure for hydrogen transport.
