Rail tariff reform was discussed in Astana.

On March 16, 2026, a meeting of the Railway Transport Subcommittee of the Logistics and Transportation Committee of the Presidium of the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held in Astana. The Baltic countries are launching a joint procurement of trains for Rail Baltica.

Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania have announced the start of a joint procurement of passenger trains for the Rail Baltica project, marking the next step in developing the region’s unified rail network. According to Estonian Infrastructure Minister Kuldar Leis, the project strengthens transport connectivity between the Baltic states and the rest of Europe, while also promoting economic development and enhancing security on the EU’s eastern border.

A single operator for local airlines will be created in Kazakhstan.

Kazakhstan plans to launch a project to develop local airlines and create a single low-cost operator. According to Marat Dautaliyev, Chairman of the Civil Aviation Subcommittee of the Atameken National Chamber of Entrepreneurs and Advisor to the General Director of Kazlogistics, the Union of Transport Workers of Kazakhstan, the initiative will dramatically reduce travel time between district and regional centers – from 8-10 hours by car to 40-90 minutes by plane. Moreover, the aircraft will be used not only for passenger transportation but also for air ambulances, cargo operations, agricultural work, and environmental monitoring.

DP World will invest $288 million in the construction of a multimodal terminal in Tashkent.

DP World (UAE), one of the world’s largest port operators, has begun design work on a new multimodal logistics complex, the DP World Tashkent Freight Terminal, in Uzbekistan. Total investment in the project is estimated at $288 million. Construction will be carried out in two phases: design work is currently underway, and construction of the first phase is scheduled to begin in June 2027 and be completed by March 2028.

CEVA Logistics launches sea transport of used lithium-ion batteries to Europe.

CEVA Logistics announced the launch of a new solution for the sea transportation of used lithium-ion batteries to continental Europe. The service began operations in March 2026 on CMA CGM lines and utilizes specially adapted containers. The initiative aims to ensure the safe delivery of batteries, including from island territories, to recycling centers on the mainland, amid the rapid growth of the electric vehicle and energy storage market.

An agreement was signed in Gdynia to modernize the Kwiatkowski overpass and develop the port’s road infrastructure.

An agreement between the city and the General Directorate of National Roads and Motorways (GDDKiA) was signed at Gdynia City Hall, with the participation of Polish Infrastructure Minister Dariusz Klimczak and government representatives. The document provides for the development of a project for the reconstruction or expansion of the Kwiatkowskiego Overpass, as well as its integration with the planned Krasna Doroga (Red Road). This initiative is seen as a key step in the implementation of infrastructure projects impacting transport accessibility and the city’s development.

Baltic carriers have announced a tender for the purchase of trains for Rail Baltica.

Baltic rail operators – Lithuanian LTG Link, Latvian Vivi, and Estonian Elron – announced a joint tender in Tallinn for the procurement of new European-standard regional rolling stock. This initiative opens a new stage in the development of regional transportation and aims to ensure fast, sustainable, and comfortable travel on the future Rail Baltica line.
